March 12th, 2011
March 2011 – The whales are coming! The whales are coming! The annual spring migration of the Grey Whale will have some 22,000 of these beautiful creatures passing by our shores in March on their way to Alaska (although many opt out of the migration and hang out here all summer). With that in mind, why not head over to the West Coast to take in some of the festivities of the Pacific Rim Whale Festival – taking place March 19-27, and being the 25th Annual festival, there are even more great events planned this year.
As a travel incentive over spring break (March 19-27, which coincides with the Whale Festival), BC Ferries is offering a mid-week promotion which can be found at http://www.bcferries.com/bcferries/faces/attachments?id=369137  , so no excuses for not coming to visit the island!
Our popular Storm Watching Package is valid until March 18th, which gives you 3 nights for the price of 2, or 4 nights for the price of 3! If you aren’t able to stay more than 2 nights, then we’ll offer you our 4-night rate of $120 per night instead of the regular $135. Here is a one-minute video about storm watching in Ucluelet, and a recent (March 2nd) 15-second clip of some huge waves at our lighthouse just down the road: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIayvKSwGaA

Welcome to 2011! We’ve had weather smorgasbord for the past few weeks — extreme rain and storms over Christmas, then a solid week of blue skies, sunshine and cold temperatures (for the West Coast anything around 0 is cold!) over New Years, followed by more storms the 4th, 5th & 6th, then sunny & cold over this past weekend, and now it looks like more storms are on their way.
What better time to snuggle into your cabin, light the fire, put on some music, or enjoy some hot chocolate in the Jacuzzi soaker tub while the storm roars on?
Our storm-watching package is in effect until February 28th, so take advantage of staying 3 nights for the price of 2, or 4 nights for the price of 3!

Because we value our guests we are always looking for ways to give them value for their money. There is still time to take advantage of our storm-watching package — stay 3 nights for the price of 2, or stay 4 nights for the price of 3, until March 5th.
All year round there is a discount for staying 4 nights or more; summer rates go from $185 per night to $170 per night, and off-season rates go from $135 per night to $120 per night.
Other packages you can take advantage of include a whale watching package (March through October) where we save you 10% on your tour price with Aquamarine Adventures.
We also provide a “self-catered breakfast” by stocking the cabins and the suite with coffee, tea, orange juice, eggs, milk and English muffins, as well as condiments like jam, peanut butter, sugar, and margarine.
The cabins and the suite are also stocked with books, CDs and DVDs.
There is free parking on the property, gated sundecks for pets’ safety, and a perfect kayak or canoe launch off our beach.
We look forward to seeing you here soon at Anchors Inn!
